i've got relationship issues, i think.

my friend told me "i think the Lord wants to pursue you." (they've been reading Captivated) and i felt a little disgusted. why the analogy? why relationships. eeyerh.

i really wonder why that was my immediate reaction. and the word Love (eros) kinda scares me too.

i dun feel like that all the time. sometimes i'm perfectly cool about it and even desire it. but i sometimes find myself VERY turned-off by the thought of relationships. to the extent that i feel like puking now. but that could be because i ate pasta last night.

case in point, my blog posts a week back. when i was veh-veh encouraged by the fact that my Lord loves me beyond measure. and He chose me. i was encouraged.

but not yesterday (and today). what is it with this changing human heart?

  1. isn't it a bit over-romanticised. the analogy of romantic relationships only applies to Christ and the church in general. our individual r'ship with God is more of father and child i thought.

  2. YA I TOTALLY AGREE! thats what i personally feel lah. but i don't wanna discount the fact that it might be very real and true for my friends. coz they desire relationships.

duno eh. i'm a little confused. all i know is that we're all unique, our experiences are subjective and they are good christian girls. empirical facts. positivism >> normative. keke.

  3. Think of it more than just in terms of relationships.

Think of how Marilyn and Becky go after Adam Lambert.

Think of how Matthew and I write to Corrinne May.

Think of how Des goes after Switchfoot, buying their giant CD thingy though she does not have a player for it.

Think of how Hilda goes all the way to Malaysia just to catch a SUJU concert.

There's no eros there, but I get a good sense of plenty of pursuing.

  4. it might feel real and true to them... but experiences should still be centred around and checked against the objective Word, otherwise it's just our own brains playing tricks on us..
i dunno whether my knowledge is just too limited, but from what i know there's never mention in the Bible of God pursuing individuals analogous to romantic relationships. only God pursuing Israel in general, or the Church as the Bride of Christ.

we're only referred to as friends of Christ, children of God, sheep of the shepherd, branches of the vine etc etc. oh well. hah never mind...
